In today’s world it’s hard to imagine not being charged. You open your mail, there’s a bill. To go to work, you pay transportation. Nowadays you even charged for water.
Sometimes we daze and wonder if ever our big break will come. So we wait and you wait, but that day never comes. Yes indeed life can be cruel, so like impulse we adapt to this way of living. The problem with living the way we do is we become a product of our environment. People charge us, so we charge them and the cycle goes on and on.
In the mist of all this we lose sight on life greatest pleasures. We lose sight of giving. To improve your life you must give a lot. Sometimes more than you currently have.
Learn To Be Generous
One of the secrets to becoming rich is to simply be generous. Give and you shall receive is the golden rule, but for some reason people find this difficult to embrace.
For example, I have a friend who charges people for everything. At times I would ask him would he ever consider giving something for free, he would reply “Free doesn’t pay the bills.” Every time he says this I cringe, because believe it or not, it can. For example, 50 cent didn’t get rich until he gave his music for free. When he charged a fee, only a few bought his music. This occurred simply because no one knew what to expect from an unknown artist so they hesitated to spend. He later relized this and gave his mixtapes for free. And the rest was history.
The same can be said for Russell Simmons with Run DMC. Russell gave his music for free, and now he’s rich.
The point is being generous can pay off severely when use correctly. Many ignore this rule and live a life of frustration, then wonder why their life not improving. To improve your life to a greater magnitude you simply need to find ways to give more. If you can give more then what you currently receiving the universe will eventually respond and create a shift in your life.
Learn to Leverage Free Content
The good news is technology allows us to be extremely generous if that’s what you really about.
In the information age being generous can sometimes pay more than just your bills, if you learn to leverage the word “FREE”.
My friend had a hard time understanding this until one day surfing the web and saw an article of a 14yr old girl named Ashley Qualls. Ashely built a website leveraging free content and later became a millionaire overnight.
She became a millionaire before she turned 15 and later dropped out of school to run the business full time. With $8 she borrowed from her mom she bought a domain and started whateverlife.com.
She turned $8 to 1 million in less than a year simply because she was generous. In the times of Ashley success I read responses of people saying her success was pure luck. I myself thought otherwise since this lesson was thought in Kiyosaki Rich Dad Poor Dad book. I understood the philosophy of her success the instant I read Ashley success. To achieve Ashley’s success you must first change your beliefs about money, you can begin by reading Rich dad Poor Dad.
Below are stories of people who change their realities and applied generosity to there work. Learn from their strategies and develop your own. It may one day change your life too.
Whateverlife.com
Whateverlife.com was created in 2004 by a 14yr old teen name Ashley Qualls. It is a website that provides free Myspace layouts and HTML tutorials for people in her age demographics. Although Ashley was young, she was way ahead of her peers.
You see, Ashley discovered something many people misused and made her first million. She discovered Google Adsense an ad program where Google shares their ad revenue with you if people click on ads place on your site.
The Ads appears on your page automatically, once approved by Google. The good thing about these ads is, they often match the content you’re displaying on your site.
For example, if you’re talking about food, food ads will display. With that simple awareness Ashley’s million dollar idea began. Ashley who studied graphic arts realized background layouts were the best niche at the time. Why?
Because layouts itself can split into multi categories, which of course meant more ads. The more categories and pages she created, the more related ads appeared on her site. Since Ashley knew what her peers liked from the start, she designed layouts that targeted their interest and emotions.
It’s no different to how Facebook uses its ads to market to their viewers.
The key to her success was colorful layouts, and unlimited free download. Another thing to note is Ashley actually solved the 90/10 riddle of money. I doubt if she knew this, but I did once I saw this amazing story.
So, being generous can pay off if you follow your passion. It just a matter on what world you see.
HowStuffworks.com
Howstuffwoorks.com is a website about you guessed it, how stuff works. Founder Marshall Brain started the site as a hobby, and wanted to give his audience an insight to how stuffs works using science.
Basically the site provides free content on just about anything you’re curious about. Curiosity is what kept the site growing as it progress later in its years. The sites took your inner concerns and explained it for free.
By using this strategy the site traffic became massive, attracting more than 58 million people annually. You would guess in a matter of year’s word of mouth help the sites growth.
It is said that people spent hours on the site searching on things they always wondered about, making it one of the top research sources on search engines. What started as a hobby for Marshall Brain ended up cashing in big time.
Later, the site got bought out twice. First, from Convex group, and the later from Discovery for $250,000,000 in 2007. Not bad for a free source of information I would say.
Generosity shows you care
When someone charges you for something, how do you feel? Do you feel happy, or do you feel sad? Most would say, it depends on the product. And at times it can.
But what happens when someone gives you something for free, how do you feel then.
Do you feel excited or are u still sad? Statistics show about 73% of consumers stay with brands that are generous longer than those that is not.
Obviously this makes sense, why would anyone want to stay with a company that doesn’t acknowledge their presents.
One of the main reasons why people are becoming millionaires at such a young age is because they know the word free gets you excited, so they look for systems to build that attracts your interest and needs.
Once that done strategies are created to keep you there. If you don’t believe me, just look at how Facebook emails you all the time with notifications from friends.
The point is being generous could pay off. You don’t always have to charge to achieve success. You must first give what you want. If you want a lot, give a lot.
The tables you see below are sites that sold for millions and more because of their generosity to serve people. I hope this will encourage you to give. Just remember this saying if you don’t remember most of this article, In the information age one of the new rules of money is, “The best things are Free”.
